Don’t be too downhearted about North Carolina. It’s a setback. A bump in the road. The stupid people are scared about how their world is changing and so they went to the polls. But they’re an endangered species. Victories like the one they got today will grow more and more scarce. These results are the predictable and commotionous death throes of an obsolete and withering ideology. Let them celebrate their win without allowing it to feel like a knife in your heart. They don’t have many wins like this left. Know that love and equality is the tortoise in this race. Be patient. It will happen. It IS happening.
